Biography

Mary Ellen Brennan is a lyrico spinto or Jugendlich Dramatischer soprano. Her operatic repertoire includes Wagner (Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Elsa in Lohengrin, and Elizabeth in Tannhäuser); Weber (Agathe in Der Freischütz); Strauss (Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos); Mozart (Donne Elvira and Anna in Don Giovanni, Elettra in Idomeneo, First Lady in Magic Flute; Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro; Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte); and Puccini (Tosca; Magda in La Rondine; Mimi and Musetta in La Boheme). A versatile vocalist, she is equally at home in operetta especially of Strauss and Lehar (Roselinde in Die Fledermaus, Giuditta in Giuditta and Hanna in Die lustige Witwe). She has appeared recently with Bel Cantanti Opera, Repertory Opera Theatre of Washington, The American Center for Puccini Studies, The Amalfi Coast Music Festival and The Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival.
